Review Announcements Annoying?

Am I the only one who finds publishers announcing that their books have been reveiwed to be annoying? That is not why I read the d20 publishers forum. Morrus does a good job presenting new reviews on the front page. I want to see actual announcements and discussions of product here, not self-congratulatory chest-puffing.

I think you have a misconception about the way that the news page works. Morrus doesn't go looking for which reviews went up. If you want it mentioned, you have to submit a scoop.

They are just trying to get information to people who might be interested. Not all the reviews they point are good, and it is helpful for people.

Wow, is that why you think we announce these things? At least for me, you are incorrect. This forum and this site are dedicated to d20 products and releases. We simply want to give the consumers good information for their buying descision.

Youy may be in the minority here but many people are on the fence while considering a product. Letting them know their is a review on it gives them something to consider that may help them.
No one is forcing you to click on the thread and we label it clearly as a notice of a review so if it bothers you simply do not read it.

Psion already pointed out the other reason to do so.

I agree Morrus does a good job of posting news incuding some of the reviews that are posted, he may miss a few and sometimes he links directly to the thread if it is something he wants a quick nod too.

I do not believe that "self-congratulatory chest puffing" is the reason people (including us) put up info about reviews here, it is to inform and discuss a review and tell people about the publishers product.

I find opinions interesting and different strokes for different folks, I suggest you do what Doug suggested just skip topics that are not of interest, I do.

Plus, Morrus only announces some reviews in the news section, and I don't generally read it because I usually get my gaming news from Gaming Report (which has wider gaming news).

As a fan of the Gothos setting, I was very much interested in that review of the Guild book.
