Review of 4E on Aint It Cool News

I have questionable tastes when it comes to things offensive. Ask my wife. I have gotten very good at saying, "I am sorry. That was tasteless." I still like it that I can find tasteless stuff on the internet though.

I have a sense of humor. The issue of fathers molesting thier daughters is not funny however.
Which doesn't change the fact that he doesn't like Bratz.

Whereas he does like 4E.

I think that you love the game so much that you may not be the best source to provide an unbiased review.
This is such a weird notion to me. If you really love the game, you cannot provide an unbiased review. Therefore, anyone who plays the game and loves it cannot be trusted as a source about whether the game is good or not.

WTF? Wouldn't having people who played the game and loved it be a indication that it's a good game?

The idea that reviews which don't have 50% good things and 50% bad things are biased is simply ridiculous. If the reviewer honestly thinks it's the best game he's ever played, he should say so. If he doesn't say so, if he manufactures bad points to appear to be "unbiased", then that is a biased review.

But a review that is 100% positive is not really a review.
BS. If the reviewer feels that the positive points about the game are so great that they outweigh even the mention of any small negatives, then so be it. If you could measure the importance of all the points you could make about the game, and determine that the top 100 such points in terms of importance are all positive, then you will get a glowingly positive review.

Pointing out faults just because you haven't pointed out faults yet, because you don't feel the faults are important enough to take time and space away from the many positive things, is not the way to go. That overstates the importance of the faults.

Same with your comment about bias. So, what, people who like something shouldn't be allowed to review it? Reviews are only acceptable if they come from people who have both something positive and negative to say? Horsecrap. If a reviewer likes something unabashedly, then he should review it unabashedly. Just like if a reviewer hates something 100%, that's how he should write about it.
What he said. The mouse is wise.

I understand satire but there are still some subjects that are offensive even if being used as part of satire. I got his point and I agree that Bratz are not good role models for children, and it could have been good except that he did stray into offensive subjects. Some people may not find it offensive but I do.
Offensive to you. Not funny to you. Keep that in mind when you make general statements about things.

I'm kinda wondering at the point of arguing whether it's a review or not. Who cares? He wrote what he thought of it. What rule does that violate? Maybe we could discuss what was actually written rather than just try to label it?

To that point, I like that it's organized better. I swear, after 8 years of playing 3e, there are still certain rules that agonizingly difficult to find during the game (and even sometimes after the game).

99% crunch sounds good to me. I gots me own fluff, thank you very much.

As someone still on the fence about 4e, I will say this. I really think the whole "only allowing a few playtesters to say only positive things about the game" was a bad move on WotC's part. It almost feels like they are purposefully directing "reviews" to give one oppinion, in other word being disingenuous, regardless of whether the person felt that way or not. Add to that the fact that Mouseferatu is already writing a supplement for the rules and you wonder "would I, or any of my friends say something bad about anything that was gonna determine my financial state?"...so yeah, I can definitely see where people are coming from.

Sorry to disappoint. I actually had a higher regard for you before reading that review. I was actually so horrified and disgusted that I almost quit half way through. I would not recommend you pointing to that again as something to make people like you. Well at least I know not to read anymore of your stuff.

I thought it was quite funny actually. Horrified and disgusted? Ahhh, I get it. You're one of "those" people...

This is madness! Madness! Madness, I say!

This is the internet. There is no place for your 'reason' and 'logic' here.
