Review of the Entropic Gaming System from Mystical Throne Entertainment

First Post
The Entropic Gaming System is a soon-to-be-released RPG designed to provide maximum flexibility allowing adventures in any setting or genre.

EGS is currently on the fifth edition of the beta test, and I have been running adventures using the system since the first. I can say the the makers of the game are proving very successful in living up to the goals of that design.

The system utilizes a stat die + skill die roll for determining the success or failure of an action but doesn't limit players to a set combination for any action allowing for the flexibility for the gm to decide what is appropriate to use for the situation.

Skills and qualities allow for players to create any type of character they can dream up. And for those characters that are more than extraordinary, the EGS provides a "Weird" system that creates a pool of points that characters can use to fuel their special talents.

I have run many adventures using the system now, running the gamut from high fantasy to far future to steampunk in the old west, and the developers are living up to the goals they set for themselves for this product. My players and I have found to be a fun and balanced system and look forward to many more adventures to come.

Ummh ... anyone else seeing this more as an advertisment than a review?

I've always thought that some description of the product should be included in any review. That way anyone reading has enough information to decide if it is something they'd like to try for themselves, as opposed to "I like it" with no context. It seems to me that part of the reason for bothering to review anything is to help support and spread the word about something you like. For that reason, any good review (that isn't posted on the same page as the product) should come across as at least part ad.

I am not employed by the company in any capacity. I'm just participating in the beta and spreading the word so that it will hopefully become a popular system when it is released.
