Review of the Revised Star Wars Core RPG Book

I thought the review was very good and helped convince me that the revised rules will be a book I want to buy. I never bought the first edition because of all the errors and complaints.

Well, to be honest with you ... while I like Moridin's positive review, I would also like to hear a review from one of those who bought and absolutely HATED the original core rules. I want to know from this gamer's perspective, that the Wizard's SW game team have redeemed themselves in the eyes of those who failed them.

If that is possible and this person also give a positive review, then it would double the sale of the revised rulebook.

Of course, it's a big gamble.

Remember, when 3e first appeared back in 2000, it brought back a lot of old gamers who were disappointed in AD&D 2nd edition. They returned to play D&D.

(It would be an even bigger gamble trying to find a group of SW d6 gamers who have never seen the original d20 core rulebook but given the revised rulebook for a playtesting review... and absolutely like it so much that they converted.) :D

Hmm. I read some of the sneak peeks, and from what I saw from the classes, they did not please me.

I am still uncertain about these things. Perhaps our group will play it again, if there are some good adventures for it.

I would buy it but only if Wizards supports it. I see that they have discontinued their mini line and also the SW Gamer mag. I am not sure I understand the marketing here, it seems to me that I would be pushing products like these (due to the new movie) and not killing them.

I don't know about the mini's, but Gamer is currently on hold and not cancled yet. Although it does look likely it will get canceled. There just wasn't enough interest in the magazine aparently.

The Revised Corebook is one way they are trying to increase sales due to the new movie.

I do wish there were more products due out this year. Currently there are only two, besides the Revised Book. There is Power of the Jedi (similar type thing to the Darkside Sourcebook) and the Arms & Equipment Guide. Power of the Jedi is due in August and Arms & Equipment Guide is due out in October.

Though I never played it, the WEG star wars seemed to have gotten tons of support. Where is the support for this game? I wonder if lucas is disappointed with the mismanaging of this enterprise. Fine, you get the core rulebooks….but where are the adventures? Other than the mega adventure out now, there is nothing else on the horizen. An arms and equipment guide? Are you kidding me? Adventure support is the key for any RPG, and this line has had none. Can anyone publish adventures for the SW game under the D20 license? Apparently not, otherwise I think we’d have seen some 3rd party adventures by now. How is it a relatively small company like WEG can pump out tons of support, and WotC has only a few handbooks to show.

Again I ask, where are the adventures?

Have you picked up Tempest Feud yet?

Have you picked up an issue of the bi-monthly Star Wars Gamer magazine?

Have you visited Wizards' Star Wars RPG web site for free adventures to download?

Have you visited Moridin's SWRPGNetwork and SWRPGNetwork-Conversion web sites for fan-submitted adventures?

WEG has many years ahead of WotC to established its fan support. Just because we live in the electronic age, doesn't mean it happens overnight.

Personally I'm not to worried about adventures. I'm more interested in tons of background information. More books focusing on various planets. Secrets of Coruscant and the such would be great :) Maybe a book with some general PrC's for various groups and orginizations through out the Star Wars Galaxies.

Two reasons... First, the STAR WARS license you have to get from Uncle George would be rather expensive. Second, the Star Wars rules are not yet included in the SRD. Why bother with all that mess? When you can publish D&D adventures under the OGL and D20 license with far less hassle.

Otherwise, I've got a dozen ideas for adventure modules that I'd try to get published in my spare time... And I'm not even certain how legal it would be for me to post them on-line for free.
