I saw the film last week and it was much better than I expected it to be. I admit to really having loved the ride as a kid and having a nostalgic love for it as an adult, and so was really thrilled that the writers managed to come up with a plot that incorporates all of the major parts of the ride.
It's also fun to watch and see how many different scenes (really more like shots) are recreations of stuff from the ride -- watch for them because there are many (over a dozen for sure).
All of the actors were good, the story was surprisingly good, and imo there was only one real plot hole and it doesn't appear until very late in the film, and is forgiveable.
Definitely a fun fantasy pirate movie. Good stuff.
(Oh, and Disney had the highest security I've ever seen at a screening: bag searches and metal detectors, along with a half-dozen guys walking up and down the aisles looking for videocameras. Amazing, and somewhat humiliating. Grrr.)
