As a result, his survival skills have been honed to fine degree when it comes to encounters with mankind. Half a dozen years ago or so, Eos found himself in the south western corner of the island. A gesture of kindness from a forester lead to a reciprocated gesture, which in turn was reciprocated ... Eventually Eos found himself living on the fringes of Grey Camp, working as a forester.</p><p></p><p>For a few years work was demanding, and Eos found pleasure in applying himself to a task. But recently, demand for timber has been falling, and making ends meet has become more challenging. With too much spare time on his hands, Eos finds himself spending much of it at Wright's Passage, watching the shipwrights at work. It is fascinating to watch them transform the timber he cuts into a vessel capable of dancing on wide open seas. As he comes to understand the requirements of the shipwrights, he has started to fill the remaining empty hours roaming the wilderness, seeking out corpses of tress suited for shipbuilding. His interest, and efforts, have not gone unnoticed, and now Eos finds himself on talking terms with two groups in town, the foresters and the shipwrights (including Master Short himself on occasions). Humans happily acknowledge elves are beautiful, but also view them as strange/capricious/sadistic/hedonistic/inscrutable/take your pick. The community of Grey Camp has certainly felt free to do so. Eos cannot help but notice the sidewise looks and hushes conversations when he comes into town. And then there was the summons to join one of the Baron's patrols. Eos has never considered himself one of the Grey Camp community, just a traveller who was passing through, and stayed for a while, helping out where he could. Eos thinks it may be time to move on. Eos has been among humans long enough to understand that refusing the summons would lead to complications he has no wish to deal with. So he will complete the patrol, see how things play out before making a decision.</p><p></p><p>Note: When roaming the wilderness, unless specifically hunting, Eos leaves his bow and arrows at home.
