RIP Jim Holloway

Sacrosanct

Legend
Announced by his son on FB. Jim was always one of my top ten favorite artists, because in an era where cheesecake ruled supreme, he kept his portrayals realistic. Regular people doing adventures, in functional and not flashy armor. With a bit of humor thrown in for good measure. That helped a younger me visualize the game world so much better than a chain mail bikini. He was so influential to me, that when I created the super dungeon Felk Mor, all of the interior art was by an artist in his same style.

You will be missed sir.

Oh no!

This has been the WORST year.

His D&D art was good, but I can't believe no one yet has mentioned his art for early Paranoia; he practically defined that game for me.
yes, he sure did. I regret that I never had the pleasure to play that, although I bought some version of it years and years ago.

Chaosium mourns the passing of renowned RPG artist James Holloway. In amongst the memorable work he did for Dungeons & Dragons, Dragon Magazine, Paranoia, and many other titles, was his beautiful cover art for Savage Mountains, a supplement for Chaosium's King Arthur Pendragon RPG. Jim Holloway's art helped spark gamers' imaginations for decades, and he leaves a lasting legacy. Our condolences go to his family and friends—Chaosium Inc.

Paranoia artwork and Jim Holloway artwork will always just be synonymous for me. As soon as someone mentions his name I can't think of anything other than his awesome Paranoia work.
