D&D 5E Rise of Tiamat Delayed

Rise of Tiamat has been delayed a couple of weeks. Hot on the heels of the delayed release dates of the Dungeon Master's Guide, and the D&D Spell Cards from Gale Force 9, WotC has just announced that the Rise of Tiamat, the sequel to Hoard of the Dragon Queen, and the second - and concluding - part of the Tyranny of Dragons storyline for D&D 5th Edition (7 brands in one sentence!) has been delayed 2 weeks from October 21st to November 4th, 2014. Preferred stores will have it on October 24th. WotC says "The test print run didn’t match our quality expectations and even though addressing these issues has caused a delay we must put out the highest quality products we can."

Not a big deal, my group is on Episode 5 and episode 6 will probably take a couple of sessions to complete. We play three to four times a month for 6 hours per a session. So by the time HotDQ reached the end, it will be good timing when RoT shows up for sale.

Anyway, thanks for posting this info.

Pulling the dragon mask off of the Tiamat disciple: "And I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids"

Who's group foiled their plans and made them go with plan B!

That sucks.
But it sounds like they're trying to address the complaints regarding the binding of the most recent books. Which is good. No one likes delayed books, but people like poor quality books even less.

So I applaud them for both making the effort towards quality AND being open in their reason for the delay.

I'm glad they're looking to release a quality product, and any delays are fine by me.

That said, this one hits close to home. My Thursday group is working through the playtest version. They're embroiled in a homebrew side-quest, leading an army in the Snakewood of Amn. We're about to hit the epic finale; a few last adventures as things ramp up to a titanic conclusion. And I was hoping to have the book before we hit the conclusion, to use the final edit of the endgame rather than the playtest version.

Does this spell the doom for wotc? Are we seeing the fall of the world's most popular rpg game? find out next month on the Sky is Falling!

I'm ok with delays if we get better products.
