D&D 5E Rise of Tiamat - sprucing up the Council sessions

I had the PCs show up in the Council chamber as the Council was giving Cylanestriel's group their commission. To indicate that there are other powerful groups out there.

I've introduced Lady Silverhand, and showed my group her 3.5-era stat block (2 pages of small print in Waterdeep: City of Splendors). They wanted to know why SHE isn't out fighting Tiamat. (Oops) She has about 10 levels in Chosen of Mystra, who has been dead for a century, so Laeral is suffering from "I ain't as good as I once was".

I have used some of the implied Council back-stage bickering to explain why the Emerald Enclave, not the Elven King, is looking into the green dragon raids.

The PCs gained Sir Isteval's approval by defeating Arauthator; when they returned to report on how their mission went, they generated a dramatic moment by drawing the dragon's head out of a Bag of Holding. I had the room go silent with shock and awe; the next sound was Sir Isteval coming to his feet to begin a standing ovation.
