I'm finally watching the Robotech series on Netflix instant download.
I'd seen a few episodes when I was a kid, but mainly only read the books, like 20 years ago.
Watching it now is interesting. Here's what I observe:
The usual MinMei bashing. Her singing is pitchy, her name is spelled inconsistently, and Rick was chasing a girl who wasn't even 16 when he met her...who later is pursued by her cousin...
When Lisa is waiting for Rick all day at the cafe, a little dog comes up to her. The dog's owner comes on scene, calling to it from across the street, outside an "Adalt Toy" store. Seriously.
The lever system to switch from Battloid, Guardian and Fighter is poorly designed interface. No designer is going to waste space for 3 levers with 2 states each. It's 1 lever or switch with 3 states. Less real estate taken up in a cockpit.
All in all, its still a decent show, considering it was some of the first anime I ever saw, let alone most people in the US. And it didn't have annoying Face Faults.
