Rokugan Equipment list

decion

First Post
I know the OA handbook has the new weapons for the campaign setting, and I do intend picking up a copy of the Rokugan sourcebook this weekend.

My question is:

Is there a list of equipment (from clothes to farm implements to a bowl of rice or livestock) anywhere?

Is it in the Rokugan book?

oh, and scenarios.... to buy or are there free ones? any tips on converting "normal" scenarios to OA?

I am kicking off a campaign with a group that has never played anything outside of Greyhawk (and most of that was temple and return to temple) - I am actually amazed that they readily agreed to try OA.. maybe they are getting adventerous in their old age...
Any help / tips etc would be appreciated.

The Rokugan book has a VERY scant weapon/armor list. OA's is much more complete. I wouldn't recommend using the Rokugan book without the Oriental Adventures book also... But watch out, the two books are *not* as compatible as they seem at first.

Still, Rokugan is fabulously done. It just needs some sanding down of rough edges. (See my post asking for a FAQ, below...)

One of the things I like about Rokugan is that members of the Samurai caste don't really have to pay for stuff. Within the domain of your lord, peasants give you all the rice and sake you could want. Outside, it's considered polite to leave a few koku to cover costs, but it's not really a per diem. Of course, ronin and gaijin don't have these benefits, so it might be worth converting stuff from the PH for rough estimates. I tweak things slightly to better fit the mood of the campaign. For example, in the Four Winds storyline, rice is going to be more expensive in Dragon lands due to the current war and lack of arable land (stupid Dark Oracles of Fire...)

For a more complete weapons and armor list for any China and Far East-based d20 game, also consider From Stone to Steel by MonkeyGod Enterprises. It has an entire chapter dedicated to the Far East, and just about every weapon for a Chinese/Japanese/Asian setting you might want.

There are a couple of short adventures by AEG (responsible for Rokugan book), but not based in Rokugan, they are the pamphlet format $2.99 a peice and there are 2 or three for levels 1-3. If I recall they are called Blood on White Petals, Daisho and the Ninja, Unspoken Shame, and Treachery's Reward. Also in Dungeon #89 Honor and Eta. Now none of these have equipment lists in them. Like the previous post Rokugan does have a short list of things that were not in OA. If you can get a hold of a L5R second edition Player's handbook there is a list of equipment an adventurer should have. It also gives you the name and what it is like Die tsuchi--warhammer.

oh yeah, there are is also two other products--Green Ronin's Hungry Ghosts and Jade Spirits (or something like that) also Avalanche Press did a one book look at the Far East called Jade and steel. It is more for an Asian continent adventure, but has some cool prestige classes and notes on asian weapons and religion.

hope that helps.
