Roleplaying on online forums - your "character" here?

First Post
As time passed and this message board evolved into what it is today, it's gone through a few phases (probably inherent in most online forum communities). One of those 'eras,' if you will, involved a lot of situational humor based on assumed user ID personalities -- logging in as Member A and posting certain messages in a certain way, and then logging in as Member X and posting in a totally different manner. The long-running gags could sometimes be fairly complex and involve several compatriots working together. And when taken with good humor, they could be a lot of fun ... akin to roleplaying PCs at a table with your friends.

That trend seems to have fallen out of favor, at least for the time being. I'm not suggesting a resurgence. But it might be interesting to introspectively consider the character(s) YOU have played as a member of the ENWorld community.

Well, I'm also known as PirateCat, an account I use to boss people around.

No, wait. My account's KaeYoss, and he's a compulsive liar.

I only post as MrFilthyIke, but there ARE several voices in my head, does that count? ;)

Well, I normally only post as Turanil. However, I did create an account once, for the sole purpose of some posting joke. So, for those who remember the two posts of "Alkehlar's Wife", well... :heh:

I am considering creating a new account for fun, with a stupid name, but well, it would hinder my postcount race... :heh:

Go ahead, you won't get my anyway

I suppose I started as the classic lurker, and now have a much more active persona on the boards.

I've not gone with more than one account on a BBS though.

I used to have a lot of fun with my previous ID, and branched out into various other characters from time to time. The busier (and more satisfied) I am in "real" life, the less time I have for such shenanananagins here.

And then there's a certain divine bovine persona that was worn by a large group of people (shared password).

I've always figured an online identity is more fantasy than we're willing to admit. You can be anyone you want to be here, exhibit any personality quirks that catch your fancy, and who's gonna confirm it's not the "real" you?
