I've also once managed to roll a 18/00 for Strength on straight 3D6. Unfortunately it was somewhat balanced out by a Dex of 7.
I even declined once the use of a tome of strength, because I thought that 18/00 looked much better than 19 on my character sheet.

What can I say, I still play him these days; seven years and an entire edition of D&D later.
