- WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? This book is part setting guide, part adventure, all set in a magical Renaissance Venice in 1507. The 400-page tome is intended to be system neutral but contains shorthand universal stat blocks to give the core tome more utility. In addition, there are system-specific add-ons like The Magical Renaissance 5e Player's Guide and the Ars Magica Guide for Serenissima Obscura including full stat 5e and Ars Magica stat blocks. There’s a modular adventure along with over 60 monsters and over 150 NPCs. The artwork for this book is outstanding, and the campaign page really showcases the beauty of the illustrations. - WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? CBR+PNK is one of my favorite TTRPGs because it distilled Forged in the Dark rules and a cyberpunk setting into a minimalist pamphlet-based game. Format is the driver behind CBR+PNK, giving it the streamlined structure that puts the rules and the concept into a few one-page documents/character sheets. In contrast, Echoes of the Veil expands the game into a 100-page book. The expansion provides more detail, artwork, and a weird magic vibe. But why expand the rules? The creator wrote that “as a neurodivergent GM, running games from just a handful of pamphlets without much explanation? That left me overwhelmed and paralyzed.
