Creatures 2 - Inhabitants of the Netherworld and Canker's Agents | Creatures 2 - Inhabitants of the Netherworld and Canker's Agents (Red Dragon Edition) | Legends of Eana - Resurgences of the Netherworld | Legends of Eana - Netherworld Tunnels | Legends of Eana - Aboleths of Blackwater by Studio Agate
  • SYSTEM: Dungeons & Dragon Fifth Edition
  • PRODUCT TYPE: hardcover supplements (Creatures) and softcover (Legends)
  • RETAIL PRICE: $49.95/$59.95/$20/$20/$20
  • DESCRIPTION: Creatures: Netherworld is a collection of more than 180 creatures and encounters. All the creatures within are related to the exploration of mysteries, whether such investigations see adventurers descending into the depths of the earth or facing off against strange life forms created by Canker – a nigh divine corrupting entity. Also includes new playable species: drow, duergar, sidhes, simmaiens, and scirneblin. Legends of Eana – Resurgences of the Netherworld is a collection of five adventures intended for characters of levels 1 – 5. Incidents in mines, disquieting sounds in basements, curious disappearances, dried-up sources will have the PCs undertake dizzying forays into ghastly tunnels and gloomy caverns, where danger does not always lie where one might expect it to. In Legends of Eana – Netherworld Tunnels the PCs are either hired to explore the subterranean galleries of Eana or are trapped in the underground maze. The PCs discover the Netherworld, its dwellers, its fauna, and its flora. Between rescue missions, hunting for netherpossums, or simply fighting for their lives, the PCs will need cool heads and adaptability to make it through this extraordinary environment. A collection of five adventures intended for characters of levels 2- 8. Aboleths of Blackwater is a collection of five adventurers intended for characters of levels 1 – 7. Even as the PCs possibly live in ignorance of Blackwater’s very existence, strange incidents, murders, and disappearances put them on the trail of an evil all the more pernicious that is subsumes those who fail to vanquish it. To thwart the threat of the aboleths and their mindless puppets, a mind shielded from comforting lies will prove a necessary as a well-sharpened blade.

Would be nice to have actual links to the company and the product, rather than sending us to a Noble Knight link...
By going to a reseller, it does potentially lose money for the company producing it. Of course, Charles gets a kickback from the links, so I'm not surprised it is so.

The campaign builder looks interesting. However, probably a little to much for something I am likely to never use :(
There are city NPCs, a small amount of player-facing stuff, a monster or three, but the vast majority of it is useful for sitting down to create your own city (towns get much less attention) and working through the process to flesh them out in a meaningful way.

If you're willing to further flesh out existing cities -- either ones you made or purchased -- the book is still useful, IMO, but it really shines when you use it before the campaign begins, to create a foundation for what will follow in the future.

It's much less of a grab bag of stuff to add to an urban game than, say, 3E's Cityscape book was. There are other resources out there that fit the bill, though, like Cawood Publishing's Monsters of the City. (Can you tell I run a campaign that spends a lot of time in cities?)
