I would like to see that myself. THe guy must have tried to beat the DM senceless after his pc died.

Well, considering the RPGA usually run groups of games at one time, that means:

A)A number of people in one place

And

B)Competition styles games

Since humans, as a group, cannot seem to gather in groups without conflict arrising, I would not find assault hard to believe. Try running a LARP with over 40+ people, and it's like watching Sociology In Action.

Tournament fraud I can see but Assault. Wonder if there is a police blotter to follow that one with.
Maybe some guy touched his dice without asking.

What are the odds that anyone present at the incident posts to EN World? I'd love to hear details.

Not all RPGA events are competition based, but in the various living campaigns people can react rather emotionally when something bad happens to their favourite character. I even have heard a story of somebody pulling a gun over an argument - but that is probably urban legend.

As I know the person who was assaulted, the people who were there, and the store in question, I can confirm that it happened. I'm not going to into details except to say that the person assaulted received a hairline fracture to his jaw and that the police were involved.

That sucks, hairline fractures always seem to hurt alot worse than they are...

(I've had one in the middle finger, made for a funny brace, though.)

Hummm

Things about RPGA that would make me resort to assault.

1. The bookkeeping related to items. Sheeesh, stubby pencils anyone?

2. Point Buy. Well you know to think about it EVERYONE is born with the same potential right. I could play linebacker for the bears, I just chose something else. :o

3. The mystery that surrounds disappearing equipment upon the death of a party member? I'll never understand that one.

Guess thats it for me....anything else I just raise my voice!

If you don't get it don't worry you may have fallen into the sarchasm. The place between my sense of humor and your understanding of it. No harm no foul!

The suspended members list seems to be a result of the RPGA applying some of the formality that the DCI was already using (which makes sense).

If you look for the DCI list of suspended players you'll see that it also is a much longer list (its been around longer) and also includes some assaults

The tournament fraud case was more interesting, because the RPGA was slow in getting a module released in time for a con, so the organizer forged the signatures for mod approval so the mods would be ready. Then when this was dicovered (real quick) everyone who played got their play voided anyway.

"at least" he had good intentions.
