RPGObjects: Supers20 previews

Vigilance

Explorer
Just wanted to let folks know the previews are beginning early for Supers20, giving you a chance to watch (and kibbitz) as the game is built from the ground up.

Many folks enjoyed this when I did for Modern20, so I am doing it again for the super-powered supplement for said book.

First, there's a post that predates a single word of the book being written, on my initial philosophy for the book, what I'm doing this time that I didn't do last time.

Supers20 Design Philosophy

Next, in our 3rd RPGObjects podcast, Chris Davis, the owner of RPGObjects and I talk supers, supers and supers (and uh, video games some too).

RPGObjects Podcast 3: Supers

Now we fast forward to the FUTURE, where in the land of flying cars, moving sidewalks and food from a pill I've actually started writing the thing, and I post a new skill from the game.

Power Control Skill

And the latest offering (for now!) I get all emo and philosophical again as I ponder the question of balancing supers vs. normals, does there need to be a distinction and does it matter if there isn't?

Supers vs. Normals does it matter?

That's all for now. I'll pop back in to give you guys a heads up as more pinballs hit bumpers.

Chuck

I am finally getting into Mutants and Masterminds 2E for the first time since helping play test it (a little). How well does what your doing mesh with how characters are built in M&M? If you don't do character builds the same way, do you think your powers/feats/skills would mesh well?

I am taking it as a given I would have to at the very least eye ball everything to ensure similar power levels and degrees of effect on the feats and skills, but is your stuff that close? Or is it more likely that I will have to rewrite a good bit to have them mesh well?

If you don't know, I am happy to hear the opinion of any M&M player who has used Vigilances material.

The systems are pretty different.

As much as I'd like to recommend my own stuff, I think you'd be better off looking here where you can find almost 50 marvel characters for M&M 2e and hundreds for M&M 1e.

With the debut of Supers20 as well as Dark Future, will we be seeing any Iconic characters that are indigenous to what your doing (DC has Batdude, Marvel has Crawly-man.... etc, Cartoon Network has Sponge Bob, Etc.)?

What kinds of characters or visions of characters did you use while constructing Supers20?

Regards,
Walt

Mostly I've been trying to make sure the system can accomodate whatever type of supers folks want. It seems to scale pretty well so far.

What we're using to test it is Dark Future at the moment. My players are having a grand time figuring out how to sneak out of the Atlanta Containment Zone.

We've also ran a couple of WWII Invaders-esque one-shots and the characters from those will likely see the light of day at some point as well.
