RPGs with the Best ART

Cthulhutech looks like it's going to definitively end this discussion once it's out.

For the moment, I'd say Anima (out in Europe!), Spelljammer (cover art only, but then you could say this of much of 2e art), Exalted (no caveats!) and Iron Kingdoms.

I'll put in for 2E Vampire: the Masquerade products. It had a variety of styles with a variety of quality, but overall, like the product itself, even where there was a failing technical quality, it still had a quality and spirit that showed through.

Then I'll put in for 1E DMG for similar reasons. I especially miss the cartoons and think that later versions of the DMG are less due to lack of similar product.

Then Unhallowed Metropolis, because I worked on the art. :-)

As an artist and someone who is very visual I tend to be very disappointed in the artwork used in most American RPGs, especially considering the talent available. The two games mentioned above are not the only ones to use quality illustrations but they use the most impressive work consistantly. I tend to do searches for art on deviantart and other similar sites when I run a campaign and I come across young artists who just blow me away and I think, "Why is no one using this person's stuff?"

I'm also a bit spoiled by the art in many japanese RPGs (ever see a copy of the japanese edition of Traveller? A-MAZE-ING!) and the work of the artist in my own group (several of whom are professional illustrators and cartoonist. You know how you really start playing in High School and College? Well I went to the High School of Art and Design and the School of Visual Arts in NY. Everyone was that guy in your school who could draw really well).
