Summer is from June 21st to around September 21st/22nd. By calendar, seasons from from equinox to solstice to equinox, and that's how companies normally announce their release schedules.

I know what they mean from a corporate standpoint. I was actually quoting how they worded it in the article. Sorry, I didn't make it clear that I was quoting the actual article. In this case the choice of words was not mine. Thanks for clarifying though, in case others might be wondering.

I really still consider September a transition from summer to fall so I am not really concerned about the timing.

I'll grant you that the first question was kind of a throwaway. Personally, I think its fairly obvious that they play other RPGs. It's almost a requirement. Writers read extensively. Video game developers play other video games, etc.
And yet, Monte Cook reported that this hadn't had happened in TSR for a long time, before WotC bought it. Only under WotC it seemed that the designers played a ton of games again. (And of course, other succesful companies like Paizo or Fantasy Flight Games also seem to get that...)

I like that they were playing Torg. One of my favorite game systems. :)

Hrrm, was that as in "officially TSR sponsored games" or just in general? What I mean is, is he saying that they didn't play other games at the TSR offices but now they do at WotC or just that none of the devs played any other games period? I would be surprised if none of them played any other games period, but of course, I do not know any of them so its certainly possible. From a personal standpoint, its not really a big deal (to me) if they were playing the game on "official" time vs. personal time. The point is to simply introduce themselves to what else is out there so they can draw inspiration from it.

The folks at WotC has learned the hard way that we are all a bunch of whiny little bastards and if they ever answer a question... we hold them to that answer like it was the Holy Grail.

QFT. Sometimes people even hold them to the perceived answer they give.

Yay TORG! Maybe they can learn something from TORG and make cards that are more flavorful like TORG's drama deck.

I wish I could find the article now where he said it, but it was pretty much they didn't play RPGs much at all. Neither within the company nor outside.
(This didn't include him, I seem to remember he was surprised learning this.)

Which would be why the summer solstice is also known as "midsummer" :erm:. Even if you use astronomical definitions, instead of common-sense ones (or meteorological ones for that matter), solstices and equinoxes mark the middles of seasons, not the beginnings/ends.
