*Rumor* Sci-Fi Channel seriously interested in picking up Enterprise

Thanks a lot, people. I have once again lost faith in quality tv. Mainly because every time a cool show comes on I start thinkin' "Yeah, it ain't gonna last long." You've reopened wounds! :p

Well, maybe SciFi wants it, maybe not. But somebody wants it. Donating three million dollars for a fifth season?!?

What's funny is they pledged it anonymously. Why is that funny? Because it's just a pledge; they don't actually have the money yet. And it's anonymous, so what happens when it's time to get the money and the person never comes through?

I think they should have waited until they actually had the money before telling the news outlets. Hopefully it won't come back to bite them.

There is a risk of that, yes. However, there's some sense to it, if, as the story suggests, it is from some of the same people who have donated to the Ansari X-Prize. Trek is basically an hour-long commercial for spaceflight.

That cuts both ways. If you were going to hand over $3 million to fans to pay for a show, you'd like to make sure that the money was actually going where you thought it would first. You don't hand over the cash like that until you know that the studio will actually consider making another season. In the meantime, not announcing it means you miss a great opportunity for publicity for more donations.

As for handing over the money to berman and Braga - check out the credits. Manny Coto is Executive producer. B&B had to be willing to step aside for that. They thus did something good for Trek. There's a time for ideals and a time for pragmatism. This is the latter.

But stepping aside is not enough, especially when they have proclaimed they are scripting the series finale episode ... that means that damn TCW story have risen from its grave.

Coto was planning on addressing the Time stuff in season 5, anyway so it was never completely dead.
