Rune Knights

I was looking for some old info about knights who carved magical runes onto their armor. They were equivalent to spells and replenished every day.

Anyone got that info or something like this or know where to find something like it?

Not sure if its what you are looking for but the Eberron Artificer is very similar to this.

Better yet, a Ftr 1/Wiz 4/Runesmith 1/EK X.
Qualifies for EK as fast as a ftr/wiz, and can cast in all armor. Prepares spells by writing them out in runes on pretty much anything. Runesmith is in Races of Stone, and is normally restricted to dwarves, though that is an easily waived requirement.

WotC used to have something similar to this in their Download archives (I think it was a previous submission). They were basically paladins using elemental energy to combat mages at their own game (churches were in charge, and arcane magic was illegal, sort of). they carved runes into their armor to hold spell energy, which they used for a limited number of spells.

It was a single PrC, but progression was based on the element you chose to follow.
