For the last few years, I have been very antiMMO. I just never got the experience I had during the beta of Final Fantasy XI, so I gave up on the genre, with the exception of playing the occasional guild wars.

That all changed when my brother convinced me to play this new "free" RPG called Runes of Magic. I have played MMOs that were free, and they all felt like a slightly advanced MUD. Thus, I was very surprised with how good of a game Runes of Magic actually was. The graphics are great, the game play is fun and light and the duel class system adds a lot of variety and customization to characters. Its a pretty fun game so far. I'd recommend anyone who has been wanting to try a new MMO to check it out.

The game depends on a diamond purchasing system for finance, which provides customizations to characters, houses and quests that are not in the base game. SO far their being designed as extras that do not effect the base experience of the game for other players.

The game's in beta now, and you candownload it at Runes of Magic - Current news . I
