So I ran my first fourth ed game last Friday and thought I would throw my opinion in with everyone else's.
First the party set up:
Dragonborn Wizard
Human Warlock
Human Cleric
Dragonborn Warlord
Halfling Rouge
I tried to convince either the cleric or the warlord to play a paladin or fighter but no dice.
the adventure: H1
Okay so setting the adventure hook was just like any other DnD session I have ever been in. Then they start heading for the village and the first encounter happens.
Alls I can say is it was a blast. While it took us some time to get the rules down and to make everything work right once we got the hang of it we were having a great time. What I really dug is that for the first time in forever kobolds were a serious threat, I actually had one party member have to make a death saving throw and two more were bloodied. The encounter was both challenging and interesting.
Next the players go into town, do some roleplaying and then decide to go look for the guy at the dragon burial site. This of course leads to another encounter that was both fun and challenging...
In the end I have to say the new edition runs great and now that I have a hang on the rules I can start planning my own adventures.
