KARACHI (July 16 2005): The rupee shed two paisa for a dollar on the buying side at 59.61 and it slid three paisa for selling at 59.63, respectively. The rupee almost maintained its overnight levels versus the dollar and euro in the open market on Friday, moneychangers said.
The rupee was nearly inert versus the euro for buying and selling at Rs 73.00 and Rs 73.20 in the process of modest trading, dealers said.
They said that single European currency might sustain the present levels versus the rupee as it is also retaining its value in terms of the world currencies.
The rupee was unchanged in relation to the dollar for buying and selling at 60.45 and 60.50, respectively.
In the international markets, the dollar slipped marginally versus the major currencies in range-bound trading in the absence of fresh leads, dealers said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The dollar-rupee parity remained unchanged amid sluggish trading trend in the local currency markets on Friday.
According to the currency dealers, there was no change in dollar's demand and supply situation, which helped the local currency maintain its overnight closing levels. The dollar resumed trading at Thursday's closing rates of Rs 60.70 and Rs 60.80 on buying and selling sides, respectively. During the day's trading, the dollar recorded fractional change in its value but finally closed at the opening rates, the dealers added.
Moreover, the British pound was purchased at Rs 106.60 and was sold at Rs 107.00, the dealers added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The buying and selling rates of dollar against the rupee remained unchanged at the currency exchange establishments of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Friday.
The dollar opened at Rs 60.45 (buying) and Rs 60.55 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe any further change in the evening spell and closed at Rs 60.45 (buying) and Rs 60.55 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 105.10 (buying) and Rs 105.20 (selling) against same last rate. British currency did not observe any further change and closed at Rs 105.10 (buying) and Rs 105.20 (selling).
