S&SS Update: CC4 Open Prosposal Call!

I'm a bit unsure about how I would propose different creatures with a common name, like my four kinds of drachlings (I posted three of them in 3.0 format on these boards, so I won't do that). As far as I understand, I would still need to send four proposal forms, right?

Otu: Yep!

Unless the differences between them are really minor (like troll and scrag who don't get different entries).

Good answer.

Basically, if they require different entries--or even different "sub-entries," like the different giants or elementals--I'd like to seem then as separate proposals. (Though you're welcome to mention, in your summary, "This creature is part of a group, consisting also of X, Y, and Z.)"

If they're very minor variations like the trolls mentioned above, where we just put in a paragraph that says something like "The plantain golem is a larger subtype of the banana golem, that exists only south of the border. It has an additional +4 natural armor and +4 Strength, but is otherwise identical to its smaller relative"... well, then you can include them all in the same entry.

(Disclaimer: I will not accept any proposals for banana golems. They're taken already. ;))

It's important to understand, though, that these creatures must be able to stand alone. It's always possible we'll select one (or some), but not all of them. Be prepared for such an eventuality.

Yes, but can my Ice Cream Golem combine with your banana golem to for some sort of uber-golem????

Hmm, an Ice Cream golem might work well with Fenrilik. Very artic, but not Norse at all. Now the only question is should I do the different flavors as individual subtypes.

A quick question on the disclosure file.

It seems to be made for only one "idea or item", as implied by the wording. However, the "one file by creature" is only insisted upon for the proposal form.

Likewise, I'm not sure how brief should the "brief description" be.

Basically, would something like that be OK:

DESCRIPTION OF IDEA OR ITEM:

Banana golem: A golem constructed of banana glued to each others, and immune to grease and other things that cause people to slip.

Banana dragon: A great dragon, with a cold banana split breath, and the special capacity of bananarian halometamorphosis:
the ability to polymorph 1st-level fighters into nigh-humanoid bananas.

(* This joke will only be understood by old French gamers, I think. It refered to the Mongol & Ghota comics in the old Casus Belli magazine.)

So far as I understand the legal aspects, you can list multiple entries on the disclosure form, so long as you have separate forms for the actual entries.

Regarding the desciptions, anything that's not ridiculous is okay. What you have as an example there is fine, but you could actually got into more detail if you want. Whatever you think you need to do to sell me on the idea. No more than a couple of paragraphs though, okay?

Oh, folks, one other thing (though I'm sure this doesn't apply to most of you)...

If you aren't already familiar with the Scarred Lands, read up on it before you submit something. If I get a proposal that involves names, races, or deities that don't exist on Scarn, I'm not likely to consider it. Sure, I could tweak it around so it fits, but why should I bother, when I've got plenty of submissions coming in that actually fit the world they're written for?

Rule number one for getting published--don't make things harder on the developer/editor. :D

Oh, I'm safe -- I'm only sending submissions of things that already exist in Scarn.
