Sage PC Class?

You can add in the ability from a recent dungeon issue on a PrC, basically they gain a +1 to save for every 3 levels versus any thing that requires a save that they expect to happen. (I don't have the issue on me atm so I don't have the exact wording)

The knowledgable hero archetype is actually a really cool one... hard to do in dnd if you aren't using major spells, but I applaud the attempt! :) Let's see if I can help some...
Thanks!
Yes it is truly hard because in D&D to create an interesting class you have to make it useful in combat... and this is not an easy issue with a nonfighting thinker/lesser spellcaster.
I like the idea of substituting your Int bonus for your Str or Dex bonus a couple of times per day or something, that's a good one. Maybe something akin to Slippery Mind? Perhaps bonuses against Illusion?
Oh well those are good ideas (I already gave +2 vs illusions at 3rd level). Maybe I should translate my current version in raw english and post it. Lot of work, thoug.
You could give a sage a free Knowledge check to recognize disguised individuals (nobility & royalty to recognize aristocrats, religion to recognize the local priest, local to recognize the local beggar, etc).
Thanks, but this is a minor ability (nothing worth an entry in a core class abilities list, I think). I'm leaving the opportunity to come up with alternative secundary uses to players, while I'm trying to build some main skill uses.
Or maybe let the sage substitue an appropriate Knowledge check for her initiative? (-Knowledge (nature) against fey or animals, dungeoneering against oozes or aberrations, etc).
Mmmh sages gain bonuses against creatures whom they have knowledge of (bonuses to attack, damage, AC). I didn't thought about initiative.
I hope some of those ideas help... good luck!
Thanks! I'll post something in a few days, I hope. :)

Uhhhm this is a little unclear.
I love simple and not confusing rules, it seems to me that this one could bring only a lot of quarrels and/or rule subsets to decide wheter you where expecting an event or not.
