Samurai Canine Armour

I have a druid PC in my campaign who has a wardog animal companion. He bought chainmail barding for it. That seemed a little far-fetched at the time. So I'm sure he will be glad to see this historical example (even if it is unique).

The Romans used dogs extensively in battle, and often put chain barding on them. There are later period examples of canine barding as well as modern creations using medieval technology.

Of course, in a game where you're casting spells and transforming into animals, it seems a bit silly to get hung up on the historical accuracy of dog armor. :)

So the druid's dog can wear metal armor, but not him? Hilarious! ;)

Anyone who has been to Higgins Armory (or seen their book) knows that full plate dog armor is not only possible, but has been done.

Also, they have a set of Roman scale horse barding.
