I am the principal DM of a group that has been playing one campaign (3.5) for a long time and been gaming together even longer. Unfortunately, as my interests as a DM have evolved into craving more intrigue and role-playing, the party (all of whom are friends) seems more and more interested in just combat. "Line them up and we will knock them down" is about as complicated a plot as they will allow.
Now, with all proper humility, I am a great DM with way too much creativity. I always make up my own world (the politics and history anyway; I use other people's maps), design unique prestige classes with any players interested in trying something new, design all my own magic items (other than the basics) and have multi-layered plots that Donaldson would get dizzy trying to follow. I read SF/Fantasy constantly and pull inspiration from everywhere. I honestly don't think twice about spending 10-15hrs working on a 16 line prophecy or days working on a particular magic item.
So one of the other players and I are now searching for a new group for me to DM. We both have standard-ish 9-5 jobs so would prefer weekends, although weeknights after 6 or so are also possible. Prefer experienced gamers but familiarity with one specific set of rules is not that important since I house-rule so much as it is. Just love intrigue and role-playing.
If you are local to San Francisco and are looking for a fresh game, contact Steve at stevemcdon@earthlink.net. Thanks.
