D&D 4E Saurials in 4e?

Two? Last time I checked there were about a dozen lizardy-humanoids races running around.Of course, 95% of the humanoid races are horribly redundant and fill the same niche.

Yeah, there were a LOT of reptilian humanoids in the realms: lizardfolk, kobolds, troglodytes, blackscale (somehow migrated from Eberron to the Realms), poison dusk (again, jumped worlds), yan-ti, 2 kinds of asaathi (however you spell the desert lizardfolk), firenewts, saurial, dragonborn, spellscale, khaastah. I'm sure I'm forgetting some.

As far as I can tell, in 4E you have Lizardfolk, Troglodyte, kobolds, and yuan-ti. And the trogs look more distinct from the lizardfolk now. If you want to group Dragonborn in there too, then there you go.

Clearly, I'm a big fan of saurials, but they were a tiny population in a little town. I wouldn't be surprised if they either remove them or treat them the same as they did in 3e. A mention in the middle of a paragraph in the middle of a thick book. Saying the dragonborn can replace saurials is like saying dwarves can replace drow. They are both humanoid races that live underground. Sure, you could do it, but the culture is entirely differnt. Saurials are nothing like dragonborn or lizardfolk in personality or culture and have a unique origin but still.. There is just ONE official village of 'em in the entire Realms.
