Savage Species - Awaken Construct Q.

The spell description for Awaken Construct says that the spell "awakens a humanoid-shaped construct to humanlike sentience." What does that mean, exactly?

For instance, suppose you wish to awaken a Shield Guardian. It has no intelligence, a wisdom of 10, and a charisma of 1. After awakening, what are its stats?

What about a construct who already has an intelligence score- like an inevitable?

See the 5th level Druid spell Awaken in the PHB, its the same effects except it affects Constructs as opposed to animals Also the XP cost is as stated in the Awaken Construct spell as opposed to the lower amount stated in the Awaken spell.

Judging from Appendix 2: Compiled Tables, an awakened construct gains an Intelligence score of 4d6, drop lowest result, with no other changes.

An awakened Shield Guardian is equivalent to a 10th level character. He'd no longer be immune to mind affecting abilities, of course.

I get this from Upper Krust's "Challenging Challenge Ratings," where I modifiy the silver rule CR of a Shield Guardian (8) to reflect the fact that you're removing the penalty of not having an intelligence score (this penalty is worth -0.7) and adding to the CR by giving it about 12 points of an ability (4d6 averages about 12.25) is 1.2. So add 0.7+1.2 to the CR of 8, and you get 10.

I'm not convinced you do become vulnerable to mind-affecting spells, unless the spell description says so, and awaken doesn't. Take a look at some oozes that have Intelligence scores (like the satanic ichor from the Menace Manual), for example, or the plant type that seems to be immune to mind-affecting spells whether the plant has an Intelligence score or not.
