Savage Species: tell me about the geniefolk

Not to be rude, but...

They get wish at 18th Level as a spell like ability once per day?

Yes they do, and a Human gets Wish as a spell twice per day, as an 18th level Wizard... not counting any bonus spells per day.

So when an Efreet reaches 19th level, he'll be making a fortune off granting Wishes for money?

Yes, and a Human (or any other base race) single classed Wizard could make twice as much money, by casting the spell twice as much.

Also, most DM's play with the cavaet that a Genie cannot "grant his own wishes" whereas a Human Wizard can.

Could an Efreet 19/Wiz 1 Grant wishes to his Familiar?

Yes...

Probably not broken, seeing as they lose a lot of HD/spells BaB on their way to 19th.

Not broken in the least; a Genie has less spells than a Wizad or Mage of equal level, but has a better BAB and saves, yet still has a better selection of spell-likes than a equalivelnt Fighter or Ranger.

I havent bought SS yet, do the Genies seem balanced? has anyone tried them in play?

I've only just begun a campaign with a player as a Janni, now level 3, its worked out so far. Abdel Rahman al-Sadr has so far proven to be a bit of a twink... but then, his player is always like that.

Bottom line: the race classes were drawn up by Sean K Reynolds. IMHO, that carries about as much weight as if they had been delivered to my by a burning bush... YMMV.

When a monster has an ability like wish as a spell like ability, does it still consume XP? I thought the good part about the efreet was getting 3 wishes for free, instead of 3 wishes for 15k xp.

Thain: I dont find your comments rude at all , I share most of your sentiments.

The monsterclasses seem to very well balanced

I do believe that (effectively)getting wishes without paying 5k of XP with every casting is a very strong ability.

With Craft Wondrous Item one could be making Rings of wishes for a fraction of the XP cost.
(Or am I missing something?)
