D&D General Savage Tide Expansion - Need a Bit of Assistance

In preparation for the Savage Tide campaign, I'm utilizing "Torrents of Dread" from Dungeon 114. One of the possibilities in the Concluding the Adventure section talks about the village of Mora needing a new Zombie Master and the PCs needing to visit a lich at the Fangs of Zotzilaha who trains them. Has anyone fleshed out this idea? What would this lich need from the PCs to convince him to train a new Zombie Master? What kind of minions would it have in its lair?

I played Savage Tide a long time ago and have fond memories of the campaign, and in particular the high level ending, but I can't say I remember anything about getting a new Zombie Master.

But from reading that part of the adventure, it seems that the previous Zombie Master was corrupted, maybe the lich wants to study that corruption to prevent a reoccurrence, so some further investigation into the koprus might be needed ? As for its minions, this is a heavily zombified area, so maybe all manners of zombies and greater zombies would be sufficient, especially since at that level PCs would not be expected to fight a lich and its minions ?

I'm thinking of having this particular plot thread be the PCs escort the presumptive "new" Zombie Master to the lich's lair. Part of the trials to see if he is worthy is the ability to make it to the lich through his various zombie minions. After the lich has met the candidate, some sort of fetch quest, but I'm not sure for what exactly. I might even have the party be sent to retrieve a live kopru for the lich to study.
