If your group wants to laugh them out of town and take their stuff, maybe they should be working for the Lotus Dragons?

heh.. well thankfully I have parted ways with that group due to moving in a few weeks. I stated it merely to mention that there are groups out there that consider any treasure found to be theirs, and in a situation like that would argue and/or come to blows with the JR when the JR asked for their equipment back because the PCs (well, the players) would see the equipment as being "spoils" of the combat.
