Savage War of the Burning Sky

brilliant

Hey Zadmar, i just wanted to log in a quick "Thank You" for doing all of this.

As a long time SW fan and runner of some d20 based gaming for my group, all of this is brilliant work here and really inspires me to want to work it into my groups gaming.

It can be hard to fit both actually playing SW rules with enjoying some of the cool "not-SW" (esp d20) settings and all of this is a huge bridge for that gap that I think my players should really be able to appreciate!

They're used to the "d20 concepts" but we're none of us really in love with the system, but the crossover provided here should make it easy for them to grok what it is all about. ;-)

As a higher form of praise, I am now inspired enough to pick up a copy of Burning Sky (along with the new SPC and SFC) (hard copies all around for me as pdfs just don't ever end up actually getting used...=p)

Thanks!

Previously I was using a hacked-together version of my tool to convert the NPCs from the WotBS bestiary, but now I've cleaned it up a bit and created a proper interface.

You can access it here: WotBS NPC Converter

I've tried to make it a bit more flexible, but it still has trouble with some of the line breaks. My version of the bestiary uses touched-up files to avoid such issues, but I thought it might still be of interest to others - perhaps for converting other adventure paths that use the same statblock format, or simply for converting standard monsters that weren't included in the bestiary.

It should also be noted that I've slightly adjusted the way attributes are calculated, for reasons described here.

Earlier in the thread I mentioned Summon Familiar as an Edge I was still working on. I also wanted to expand druids, particularly in terms of summoning and shapechanging (including Wild Shape), to try and better capture the feel of the D&D druid.

So that's what I've been working on for the last couple of weeks, and here it is: Savage Beasts

I think that covers the last of the underlying infrastructure I needed, so now I can get back to the main conversion.

I've now written up the notes for the Player's Guide, which you can download as a PDF from here. I'll be tweaking it based on feedback, but as it mostly includes content I've already posted here and elsewhere, I don't envision it undergoing any significant changes.

And it's AWESOME!

Thanks! It's just a fan supplement, but I've tried to make it look presentable. I know there are several other Savages who have bought WotBS based on what I've posted so far, so I don't want to let them down :)

The adventure path itself is massive, and I'm not sure I can do it justice if I write up the conversion before running it, so I'm likely to handle the next part in stages. My group has already completed the first adventure (we're about to start act 2 of adventure 2 tomorrow - that'll be our 6th session, with a session usually lasting about 4 hours), and I've already written up some guidelines for the first adventure, so my next objective will be to make those more presentable.

I've made a few more updates to the Player's Guide, and I'm now fairly happy with it (although I've probably just jinxed myself...). I've also tidied up my notes and turned them into a GM's Guide, which covers the first adventure. There should now be enough for someone to run the first adventure of WotBS using Savage Worlds, and after that it's probably pretty easy to make the rest up as you go - although I will be writing up notes for the rest of the campaign, but that'll take a little longer.

I've created a web-based Character Builder to speed up the character creation process, which should be fairly easy to use even if you're not familiar with Savage Worlds. The quickest way is to choose an archetype (or at least use one as a starting point), but you can also build a character from scratch if you prefer.

The statblocks it generates are also compatible with my Stat Card Generator. I'll add a proper full-sized character sheet when I get the chance.
