I've heard rumors that the "other editor" was his own sockpuppet that he used to post from another physcial location (and IP address).

They tended to tag team on deletions, but I doubt it. The dude who got banned was in Bali apparently, and Gavin Collins is supposedly somewhere in Britain. I figure he'll get himself banned soon enough for something else entirely, so I'm not inclined to spend the effort trying to find out his location based on IP.

It's mostly just some middleaged accountant and partime internet toughman named Gavin Collins who gets into a frothing nerd rage over the very idea of having rpg articles present on wikipedia. He's got something against the genre in general, and he's been trying to tag spam and delete tons of D&D articles without apparently having even a basic knowledge of the topic.

Why? There's so many geek topics clogging the Wikipedia, what difference would RPG articles make?

Dunno. It's the only topic he's gone all jihad on, despite admitting he knows nothing about the topic. Who knows.

I missed the whole "Jack" thing. Not too shocking I guess...

I've added some references to the article, any other non-blog reviews (ideally by "staff reviewers") would be nice to add. And then "wikify" (add cites to things that references state...)

Could easily be one guy shifting proxy chains to appear in a different area via cutout. I've noticed some pernicious trolls on other forums use that method to get around IP bans if rather infrequently. He's lucky I wasn't involved or I probably would've reconfigured one of my old server boxes to do nothing but spam digital attacks against his IP all day and waited him out.

This is the brilliant part, really. His familiarity with the subject matter is negligible, so one is forced to wonder why he's mounted an offensive against it, and the only conclusion I seem to be able to draw is that he finds roleplaying games personally offensive.

Then again, that's Wikipedia for you. Now if you'll excuse me, as a historian, I feel it is my solemn duty to apply to my vast (read: not so vast) knowledge of quantum physics to editing that article.

Wikipedia shmikipedia. This is the same bunch of fun-loving go-getters who decided that this (a predominantly 3.5/d20) webforum does get its own page, but nuked the Dragonsfoot page.

Wikipedia operates at exactly the level one would expect it to given the nature of the "editors".

Well, if there was a web traffic requirement, that makes sense given their comparative traffic. However, there clearly isn't

Wikipedia has gone completely to s___ recently.
A bunch of painfully uninformed people have taken over and decided, for some reason, that their job will sound cooler if they start being obnoxious and getting rid of "minor" topics.
Cause, you know, the point of wikipedia is to limit the amount of information available to people. :/

Save the page in scrapbook. When wikipedia crashes, burns and is replaced just paste it up there.
