(saves ends both) Question

Maybe this is a stupid question, but can´t bug it off.

Some effects have the (saves end) to indicate you must make a save to end the effect. This is very obvious to me as everyone else. But some effects come with 2 conditions followed by (saves end both) so my question is: I make 2 saves one for which condition or only one save to end both at same time!?

The phrase is "save ends both."

The word save is singular, thus only one save is needed. Save (singular) ends both (dual). One save ends two conditions.

Though it may seem slightly odd under some circumstances (like if you have a bonus vs half of the pair), but hey, whatever.

Oh, sure - like if a power sets you on fire and you run screaming around in fear while on fire... then putting the fire out should settle it, so your Fireburst armor automatically succeeding your fire save stopping the fear makes sense.

It may just feel weird sometimes.

That circumstance won't happen. (Save ends both) effects always come from a single power, which has one set of keywords. Either that power is a fear (charm, poison, etc.) effect or it isn't.

Arise from Page 3 so that all may Behold your Glory! :p:p:p:p:p

Seriously though, someone just made another thread about this topic so I thought I would share.:cool::cool::cool::cool:

Even if the circumstance can occur, it isn't problematic. Simply make one die roll and apply modifiers independently for each condition.

It can happen - for example an ongoing necrotic damage effect that immobilizes with fear, where you get a bonus against the fear to end the ongoing necrotic damage.

It's still fine, though. :)
