I'm playing a dwarf barbarian in a PBP Ghelspad game that is starting. I have Burok Torn which was 3.0 but don't have the 3.5 CCR. Could you tell me what changed in mountain dwarves' stats as a PC race between the two? There is weapon familiarity with the waraxe and the multiweapon thing but anything else?

Thanks.

I have the Appendix 2 of the CC Revised typed up in Word and it has all the 3.5 PC racial information. I'd email it to you, but I am not sure if that is illegal or not. I really know very little about the OGL, since I never really bothered to read through it. I made it for the new SL campaign I just started and wanted something to hand to the players.

If someone could tell me if it's ok to post it, I'll put it up at http://scarn.mortality.net/

Cats,

The stats I believe are fine, just the other info (relations, alignments) aren't OGC.

Nightfall,

If I post it to the Scarn.Mortality.Net site, can you check it out and let me know if we need to remove some stuff? I literally OCR'd and typed the whole appendix 2 of CC Revised.

Titan-spawn races as player classes

Here's one for you, oh sage of the lands.

If a player wanted to play a half-titanspawn race, or a titanspawn race, how should they approach roleplaying and what will be the challenges they would face, depending upon where they are adventuring?

If the player chose to play an renegade gnoll, or a half-giant or maybe even a slitheren outcast, how should I approach this as a DM? And how should the player approach it? It certainly will be a challenge for the player, assuming that the party has justification for the titanspawn member of their group.

How would the party and the individual be viewed if they were adventuring in Darakeene, Calastia, Albadia, Shelzar, Vesh, Mithril, etc...

What should I do as a DM to make the game rightfully challenging because of the member of the party, but also enjoyable for all. Is it possible or (if role-played correctly) will some of the party just split away?

Has anyone else DMed a Scarred Lands Campaign with these circumstances?

This was triggered because a player wanted to play one, and we saw that there was some half-orc type character on the cover of Blood Sea.

Most half orcs are shunned, but some do manage to make decent lives for themselves. It depends on the region and also the degree of civilization. Hollowfaust, for example, doesn't care too much what you did outside of Hollowfaust. It does care what you do inside it.

Now regarding Slitheren, most sane people aka most people on Ghelspad or have ties to it, wouldn't react too kindly to the prescence of them. More than likely they will kill them on sight, (at least in Vesh), but some might just out right shun them and have very little to do with them. Certainly they'd charge exorberiant amounts for it. Now regarding Half-giants...not sure how common they are, also considering the fact that most giants dislike most humans. That being said, a small percentage COULD exist in very bleak regions, or in the mountains (I favor Titanshomes, Gascars and Keldars), but other than that not much else. Gnolls are far more common in Termana and thus it's not uncommon to see some around Termana. Ghelspad, another matter, but still I doubt they'd be too concerned unless they traveled in the Ukrudan desert where they might be mistaken (at a distance) for Sutak.

Regarding party interactions, they can certainly be strained but if you say have a paladin in the group, and can sense no evil in him/her, I'm sure said paladin won't object. Rangers of course might have difficulties, but again depends on race. Mostly though there will be a lot of distrust among the party, unless there's a firm leader and one that has some belief in rehabilating races or belief in redemption. Or just one that's willing to use what is necessary to achieve party objectives.
I hope that helps.

More or less what Nightfall said.

It does depend on the party, to a degree, for one, obviously.

Other than that, Stalker Ratmen seem to get along fairly well in god-worshipping lands, though they tend to stick to the outskirts. They often offer their services to the highest bidder, whoever that may be. If you ran a game focusing on the underworld of Scarn, a Stalker ratman might be able to work.

If you were to run a game that more or less stays in one city, it might also be feasible to use a ratman. Just explain his situation once (more or less), and then he's set. Otherwise, traveling would run into a major number of problems.

And as for half-orcs, they're actually treated well almost universally. Dunahnae, Calastia, Shelzar, all over - they're generally better treated then halflings.

Now in going back over my own look and seeing you mentioned the Half-giant on the Scarn.mortality.net boards, I have to say they are pretty rare (as are most psionic races in many cases.) But if helps, Tri-kreen I could see (non-psionic mind you), could be found in a couple desert areas. (Notably the Desert of Onn and probably hidden deep in the Ukrudan). No idea about Half-giants...

Magic Items, cost and rarity

I keep seeing references in the various boards that permanent magic items are harder to come by than single use or charged items.

I found this on the Scarred Lands Repository written by Nightfall:

Potions in the minor to medium range (stop around the 40-45 percentilce), standard pricing. Arcane scrolls of 1-3 and divine 1-4, standard pricing. (This doesn't include paladins, rangers or bards. Only clerics, druids, sorcerers/wizards.) Paladin and Ranger of 1-2, standard pricing. Bards, 1-3 standard.

Arcane scrolls of 4-6 level double standard pricing. Divine scroll 5-7 triple standard pricing.

Potions in the medium to major, double standard.

Arcane and Divine scrolls of 8-9 level, triple standard pricing.

Minor wonderous items, double standard pricing

Magic weapons, magic armor, medium to major wonderous items, rings, staffs and rods, all triple standard pricing.

This is a good way of handling these rules, I am guessing that a person would generally RARELY sell a permanent item, unless they donated it to a cause.

I must be blind or something.... Where in the books does it talk about rarity of magic items?

Relics and Rituals 1, page 148 of the Magic item section. First paragraph.

I admit to altering the rules but I also feel my original idealogy when I did this works very well with beginning level characters. You might want to reconfigure if you feel your party isn't quite up to snuff, but that's for other DMs.
