Is Belsameth single??? And if so you have her seven digits???

Come on help a guy out!!!! :D

Well, keep in mind, Belsameth's not a one fella' kinda girl. I mean, she's been with both Enkili and Mesos (Who when she calls daddy, she means it), and she's been propositioning Chardun for who knows how long. Then there was that demon lord...

Well, you get the picture. So long as you don't mind sharing, well...hey. That, and possibly being murdered in your sleep when Belsameth is in one of her "moods." Which is about always.

Was wondering what the great sage  thought of The Penumbral Pentagon. I was flipping through it today and it seemed interesting, but decided to hear some comments about it first.

edit:
just being sarcastic I really appreciate the work and advice you give to us SL newbies :)

Thanks

Sarcasm is fine. Just understand you might wake up with frogs in your bed. In any case, regarding the Penumbral Pentagon, I think my review of it sums up my feelings for it nicely.

Here you go: My Penumbral Pentagon Review

Btw Trick would know since he really is an avatar of Enkili. Trust me. (Even though Enkili doesn't KNOW it was her) In any case my advice on dating Belsameth, make sure you kill some people for her. She likes that.

I have a question for you oh wise sage.

One of my players, being the sneaky punk that he is, went to a library in Lave (That the right spelling? The big city in Vesh) and wants a map of the city so he can plan his little outtings better. Is there a map out there somewhere I can go off of, or am I going to be creating this from scratch (ugh)

Another question, not directly 100% SL related so feel free to ignore, but one of my players purchased an Inn in Lave, Vesh. He wants to bring exotic wines, ale , meat etc.. from his travels there to sell. Is there any reference anywhere to what he can expect to earn from that kind of thing? I can think of a hundred plot hooks with this Inn, but I need some numbers I can give him.

Thanks for taking the time to do all this =)

thanks for pointing towards the review saved me 20 bucks :)
My pleasure Taelorn. I hate saying these things about my favorite settings, but the stuff in there...I couldn't ignore.

And I will do the best to answer it.

Well I do know there's a map of the keep in Lave. It's kind of the main place to be. The Hall of the Command is the Home Commander's place and the Vigils' HQ for all of the Vigils. You can find that in the Serpent in the Fold. As for a map of the city itself...Sadly I know of none. I will say that you can, using the Serpent in the Fold for the Hall and the locations in the SLCS: Ghelspad listing for Vesh, be able to make a decent map with out too much difficulty. I would point out that Lave (and yes you spelled it right), is a port city, so don't forget to add in Docks on the east side of the city.

If you mean a high priced merchant, I don't know of any off hand, but I'm sure SOMEONE has something about it. I would say that if he needs creative names, make sure to use Darakenee as one source along with Hollowfaust. (Both have very good vinyards but not a wide yield, at least not Hollowfaust)

I'm not sure if I get punished for naming non-SL products on the "Ask the Sage" Thread but a decent resource for trade (and evaluating earnings from trade) is from WOTC's Arms and Equipment Guide re: Trade Goods. My priest of Chardun/death-touched from Termana did a brisk business in trade as he travelled from ports between Termana and Ghelspad. These were the rules my GM used.

Hope this helps,

Werner

Can't think of any references, but I suppose one could make a rough estimate for how much all of that would cost to get to Lave in the first place, and from there, get an idea of how much profit would make that cost worthwhile.

I have little urge to go looking through charts at the moment, but here's an idea of how to figure out how much that might earn.

Let's say that to transport one wagon full of wine from somewhere southeast of the Kelder's is going to cost, for one, the price of all the wine in the cart. Well, duh.

Next, assuming that the PC's aren't the ones actually transporting the stuff in the first place, that one wagon will require two pack animals, two merchants to handle and take care of the merchandise as well as bargain for it in the first place, then, let's say...four bodyguards to make sure it makes it to Lave safely. After all, no matter where you are on Ghelspad, you can't travel too far without hitting danger. Then figure out how long the journey will take from point A to Lave. With that information, you can get a rough idea of cost.

Factor in the total price of the wine (or whatever). Factor in the price of feeding 2 pack animals for each day of the journey. Factor in feeding 6 people for each day of the journey. Factor in the actual pay each of those 6 people will be getting for each day of the journey. Then, factor in just how much you as the DM feel is appropriate for bribes, tariffs and taxes imposed upon the merchants as they travel from one land to the next. Then throw in a bit more miscellaneous gold to represent other costs that logically exist; gold for wagon repair, for example.

Then, from that cost, I'd say factor in how much each bottle goes for. The whole lot should go for, at the least, twice whatever the cost of transporting it to Lave in the first place was - possibly quite a bit more.

Profit-wise, though...depends on how well stocked the inn is, competition, and all those other factors you might want to integrate. Not to mention seasons, holidays, etc. That's somewhat up to you, though. Figure some of the stock goes to waste, some never sells, some's broken, some's stolen, etc, as well. How much of that happens is somewhat up to you and the PC's, though.

You've got that all, right? If not, I'll see if I can't break it down a bit better.

Most of that information - feeding pack animals, paying for mercenaries, etc - can be found in either the Player's Guide or DM's Guide.

I can't claim the system I just threw out there was the best one, but I think it's workable in a jiffy. Hopefully helpful, until someone offers up something better.

Bother to people posting while I'm still writing!

Well, Arms and Equipment would be helpful, too, apparently.

But my little system is free, if perhaps a bit obnoxious to figure out. Heh.

Werner, Freelancers and especially S&SS freelancers are exempt from my wrath of using non-SL stuff. But I will say it's okay overall to use Arms and Equipment Guide somewhat.
