So... some friends of mine want to take various Technique feats from the Asaatthi book. They're actually playing characters from Kara Tur in the Realms. I have no problems with Taasuuden style, but Utaan Ite seems like a min-maxers dream, and I came down hard on Alyeeth Kassuk because said player was trying to convince me they could Iaijutsu Focus every round with it. Also, My Lie is Strong and Your Lie is Weak seem to be pretty powerful, doubling ranks in Bluff and Sense Motive.

Any other thoughts on Technique feats?
Wish I could be more helpful ascend but Secrets is the only SL book not in my current collection. I have skimmed the book a couple times. My own thoughts are simply that such feats MUST be taught and usually done by Assathi. They could be used by others but I think limiting them to Assathi only wouldn't be bad if you feel uncomfortable about using them in a game with no Assathi. Then again if it's an OA game, I'd recommend only certain clans and/or classes can have access to them. (Obviously fighters/samurai but maybe require multi-class depending on certain feats)

Just my two cents.

Thanks Nightfall!

Another more general question...

How far into Durrover have the Calastians pushed?

And is Virduk just that cool? :p

edit: Also, do you know of plans for any more Vigil Watch books? Warrens of the Ratmen is much nifty, and I'd love to see some more of those...

I'm not a big believer in imposing harsh in-game requirements for seemingly powerful stuff. I think everything should be relatively balanced regardless of what you have to do to pick up the Feat. Still, I think I'll only have to deal with Weapon Familiars (seems fine) and the Taasuuden style, so things are ok :)

Well what ever floats your boat. I thought you were saying you wanted more than just some weapon familiar requirements was all.

1) Not quite clear. Some reports have them still stuck in RustFang, other assaulting Fort Anvil, more saying the control most of the lands except a few cities, and some spots along the other side of the Cleft. Basically it's up to you.

2) Yes he's very LE and canny. So I guess that qualifies him as cool. :)

3) Actually if you look in the above thread, you'll see ascendance and I are discussing the latest/newest VW book, Secrets of the Assathi. So there is that. That being said I don't know of any new VW book slated for 2004/2005, but I wouldn't put it past them after some more is done.

Well a couple more posts and we'll hit ten.

Mods when this happens I want to close the thread and we'll start over.

now any more questions?

Oh yeah, PG: Monks and Paladins has been pushed back to Feb 4 and the Blood Sea won't be out until the 26th. I know. I'm sad too. :(

No I don't know why. I do know the reason the book got steeper in price, they kind of increased in length. But that's only part of the reason I figure. Like much of the d20 community they've had increase prices to keep up in this place.

Nightfall,

With the release of PG Monks & Paladins are all the PG books be updated to 3.5, or are there still some left?

Taelorn,

Not quite sure I understand...but my understand ALL the PGs that have been released are 3.5. Especially since they dealt with all the core D&D/d20 classes. Well except the psionic ones. There was something about doing that...but I don't believe it will happen any time soon. If ever.
