Scarred Lands Discussion: Dragons, Linnorms and Tome of Horrors

Nightfall

Sage of the Scarred Lands
Well I figured today I'd start a popular topic, that of Dragons! :)

As we have now managed to find probably now a large variety of dragons, (including the Mock Dragons and Wrack Dragons), I'm curious how much people will implement of these wonderous creatures.

Admittedly being the Scarred Lands, it's probably easier using wrack and mock but I also think it might be fun to maybe use Elemental Dragons (perhaps a template for Wracks themselves?)
and Linnorms. (I know I plan to put a few in Glamganus and possible the Iron Sands Desert)

Anyone else care to comment on this or other dragon types?

(Btw Calastian Dragon Knights, VERY nice! :) )

Mm well okay howse this then, anyone want to try maybe doing a dragon hunt in say the dragon lands? Perhaps a White Dragon empire in Fenrilik?

Hi Nightfall mate! :)

If all goes to plan I should have Monster Manual 2 and the Tome of Horrors by friday (as well as the Book of Vile Darkness and D20 Modern).

But not to stray off topic; I am curious about the Linnorms in MM2. I thought someone mentioned on a previous thread that they don't have variable age categories. Is that true?

This is true Krusty mate. (btw congrats on getting both of those plus BoVD. d20 modern isn't my thing but that's just me. I just got Tome. :) ) The Linnorms, much like the Wrack Dragons, don't have age catogories. However they have impressive breath weapons and I believe a few spell like abilities. No idea on their Damage reduction capacities.

In any case I'm glad open call for CC3 is started. I know you'll get in. :)

One of the things that I'm not too sure of is that most/all of the chromatics were wiped out during the Titans-Divine thing and that leaves some room for maneuvring new species and other goodies in but leaves out a lot of classics.

For example, I've picked up Draconic Lore (a monster manual of dragons) and find that some of the drakes and wyrms work well but am holding off on the dragons.

Well, I did use a Faerie Dragon in my SL game. It stemmed from our groups foray into Rappan Athuk.

Have they been officially stated in any book yet?

Generally though, I dont use alot of Dragons. They generally are major events in the game rather than just a cool much tougher villain to face. And given the early stage of my SL game, with the exception of the above Faeire Dragon, the group hasnt had any dealings with any dragons. Well, there was the encounter with a wyvern.

Well I think perhaps, Joe, with drakes they could be found more in more inhospitiable regions, perhaps in the Titanshome or in the Ukruduan desert.
