As Graf pointed out, this material, as it isn't clearly explained in any one place, is sort of open to interpretation (even more than standard RPG stuff
).
Owing to all of your excellent explanations, I have solidified my own interpretation, and am happy with it. Now I just need to find the time to run it...
And thanks to Sanackranib for pointing me to the book I should have checked originally (Divine & Defeated). D'oh!
