I am currently running in Scarred Lands (after several years of Greyhawk), and I like the setting, although it seems to end up as more combat heavy than other campaigns I have run. I would suggest you pick up the Ghelspad hardback, which would be enough to run a campaign sans world-specific crunch. If you add Creature Collection revised (#1) and Relics & Rituals (would need to convert the latter to 3.5), you would have plenty of info to run a decent campaign. I loaded up on SL books upon finding a trove at a used book store, and although I like most of them (particularly Hollowfaust), I would be happy running scarred lands with only the three I mentioned (Ghelspad, CC revised, and R&R). I would probably be smarter to run it only with those three, as the huge pile of books I carry now is not good for my back.
