Mind Flayer: These creatures have only ever been encountered in the depths of Termana's subterranean reaches. The citizens of the Tepuje cities believe that these creatures are the creation of the Slarecians, for the tentacled horrors revere and worship the artifacts that they discover of the Lost Ones.

Where is that in there? I don't recall it. Or is it from an advance copy of the revised version?

Its from the revised version.
Advanced information, yes :)

I think it looks cool.

I can't wait to find the origins of the various undead.

It's part of the Revised CC. Joseph was handing out info for those that asked him nicely which MM monsters we wanted more details about.

Btw Jesse/Tuerny, didn't get to see the Mind Flayer one, but it's cool that they are "creations" and not creators. :)

Oh, I definitely agree. :)

I have lots of plans for our good old mind flayers in the capacity of agents of the disappeared Slacerians. :-D

Well kind of curious about the origins of vampires, but most undead (at least the ones in MM that aren't unique) should be easy to figure out. Though the entry for Allip was rather good. :)

Yep, especially with the Guidebook from Paradigm coming out on Mind Flayers...should add some interesting flavors to them. :)

Slacerians

does anybody have a conversion of the Slacerians to "regular" magic. I would like to introduce them and their "pets" into my game without introducing psionics.

Actually, Slarecians have weird mind powers. That is a setting-established fact.

We have simply given DMs the option of using psionics, because there were lots of folks who wanted to use psionics in the Scarred Lands. We have never made it definite one way or the other - we don't need to.

My suggestion would be to simply give them a mess of mental spell-like abilities. Also, give them the ability to use more powerful abilities if there are more of them working together (sort of like the MM hags in that way). Make their powers immune to things like detect magic and other "magic based" spells, and you've gone quite a ways towards representing them with the rules at hand.
