Scent and Tracking... Wisdom Check?

But if they meant an untrained survival check, why wouldn't they just say survival? And is that a modification you made to the SRD, or an actual quote. If the latter, where is it from?

It is a direct quote from the Types, Subtypes, & Special Abilities section of the 3.5 SRD and the Glossary of the 3.5 MM.

For a while we had Scent grant a +4 bonus to tracking, although I am not sure where we got that rule from. I think it is best to just have Scent grant a +2 bonus to track when scent would still be possible and then just allow it to use its other abilities as well. Pinpointing people within 30' is nothing to laugh at, so you don't really need to make it too much better of an ability.

Interesting. That section is *very close* to being word for word the section in Abilities and Conditions, except there are some minor differences, including the "(or Survival)" part. Obviously was just left out in the abilities and conditions section.

Cool. Can't wait to have my character tracking over solid rock in the middle of the night and be cruising along like it's as clear as day :)
