Sci-fi map software with jpg output?

I'm working on maps of starships and space stations, and need an easy way to create them that will output to standard image files (jpg, gif, tif..) I can insert into documents.

Can anyone recommend a good program for this?

I've never used any mapping software, so you'll have to excuse my ignorance if this is a standard feature. I tried searching the forum for past threads, but they were all general "which one's best" talks.

I also NOT an artist, and I know nothing about Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, etc., so that's not really an option.

Since all the stuff I'm producing is far-future space opera, a program that includes or even specializes in that kind of objects would be particularly helpful. I'm not, however, concerned about printing 1-inch squares for minis; these are just adventure maps to use in player handouts.

Thanks.

Cosmographer Pro from www.profantasy.com

Lot's of base line sc-fi images and you can export the 'final' maps you make just fine.

That's an add-on for CC-2 Pro, right?

If so, several of the old threads indicated that CC-2 has a notoriously steep learning curve, and success with it is also somewhat dependent on artictic skill. True or False?

False CC2-Pro has been upgraded and enhanced that the curve is way down, you still need to do the tutorial but that is not a bad thing. The add-on Cosmographer Pro makes ship building a breeze, again you have to do the tutorial but that is to show you the flow of things.

Profantasy has a very active mailing list and support is amazing, if you have any issues you will have an answer in no time.
