Pretty damn cool. It's nice to know you can make an affordable movie (that's not a lame horror movie).

I really like how the robots didn't walk, they lumber.

Also, the robots are Go Bots, who knew?

It sounds like this was made as a video for YouTube, specifically. Meaning a very small picture, so resolution on the digital effects doesn't have to be as good. The cost of effects is very much dependent on the resolution at which they must be rendered.

That, plus the director-y/artistic-y/and very practical use of strategically placed atmospheric haze means he didn't have to worry about pixelation, etc. as much.

Cost in time, perhaps. You could render high resolution on your desktop if you are prepared to spend the time waiting for each frame to be rendered. Expensive render farms lie somewhere between 'convenient' and 'necessity'; different people will draw the line differently

e.g. Rustboy

Cheers

Wow wonder whatever happened to Rustboy and the movie the filmmaker was talking about..

Panic Attack despite being $300 has atmosphere and intelligent use of props and style. There's not much of story, but the director does show a good visual style. Definitely has potential to be the next District 9.

I just saw this: From Uruguay to Hollywood: Watch the Video

This tells me:
  1. This was done for $300- Hollywood is overcharged for a variety of services, and in turn, overcharges us.;)
  2. The director is going to do a complete redo with his new deal and bigger budget. New to Hollywood, he's already gone "George Lucas" on us!:p

Perhaps I have my "Negative Nancy" hat on today, but I see three possible outcomes.

1) He turns in Hollywood quality on a fraction of the budget, something Bollywood has been flirting with for a while, but no one cares, because they are foreign. If this occurs, he will be burned in effigy by the Hollywood establishment, given no marketing, and his movie will open on, at most, 5 screens. He will more than make back his investment more times over than most blockbusters, but be considered a box office flop and be next seen doing Japanese commercials with RDJ and Jude Law.

2) He goes Hollywood fo' realz, and everyone involved turns in Hollywood standard work for Hollywood standard pay and spends the rest of their Hollywood standard time rolling around in piles of money like the standard Hollywood scene out of Indecent Proposal. The movie will gross a hojillion dollars, but the minute anyone looks at a financial report, it will appear that the film lost money so that his material can be handed over to Michael Bay for sequels.

3) In an effort to prevent outcome #1, he will be inundated hourly with illicit narcotics, loose women, and high quality alcohol. This one is unpredictable in outcome, because those events could have both positive and negative impacts on film quality and his Hollywood standing.

Sorry, Umbran, but any honest belief that time, money, and quality are correlated in Hollywood is a masterful self delusion.
