Science 2020! - Mutant crayfish clones overrun Antwerp cemetery!!

Tonguez

A suffusion of yellow
In the latest offering of 2020 craziness a cemetery in Antwerp has been overrun by hundreds of mutant crayfish.

The marble crayfish is not naturally occuring and are beleived to have once been owned by German pet collectors. They mutated around 25 years ago and can now reproduce asexually. The EU made ownership of the beastie illegal in 2014.

The crayfish can burrow up to a meter into the ground and are a pest who will devour the plants, snails and amphibians in a pond or river, depriving fish of food. Unfortunately, now that it is established, the Flemish do not believe that they will be able to eliminate this pest from the wild.

So how would you use this scenario in your game? And can 2020 get any crazier?

If they’re edible, invite a bunch of creoles, Cajuns, Ausdies and Chinese to eat them.

If they’re not, call the Cajuns and Chinese anyway...

If they're edible send in some kiwi specialists armed with butter and tartare sauce.

We've wiped out 97% of them in the Hauraki Gulf. These ones won't last.

There's something about wiping out invasive species by eating them all into local extinction that appeals to my twisted mind.
Just so long as you don't introduce another predatory species to do it on your behalf. Otherwise you're just doing the Old Woman Who Swallowed A Fly on an ecological level.
