scifi ships

A Crazy Fool

First Post
these are just some low polygon (as far as poly counts go, they're similar to those of the high-detail models of ships in homeworld 2) starships i've been playing around with as a texturing exercise lately. the big one is a destroyer and is about 620 feet long, the small one is a two person fighter that's about 60 feet long. they're both works in progress, and are just half-lit models with simple placeholder textures. I'm going to add turrets and hanger detals, etc. later. a backround comes with a scene, and a scene seems unlikely.

The surface of both ships is meant to be flat and white (i might add some subtle panels or i might not), the hulls are made of plastic and entirely covered in clear lcd screens that funtion as a cloak of sorts.

I like the design, but is there any reason you can't add more detail to the texture? Low poly ships are more dependent on texturing than more detailed models.

no, really there's no reason why i couldn't, but it's not really meant to be detailed, all the numbers letters etc. are actualy lcd displays...but since i'm such a hipocrite i a actualy have made a subtle grey-white texture and bump map for the white areas :\
i'll post the texture updates sometime (homework hurts my soul and i have to get back to it)
