[SCOOP] New 3.5 Monster Manual Cover

Another tidbit, it says 31 new illustrations, does that mean there are 31 new monsters or that some old monsters without illustrations are getting them and the difference is the new monster #?

Oooh, I love scoops.

Hmm. I prefer the new DMG cover to the old. The two others, I don't know. The PH one is more busy now. The MM one has its plastic scales less visible, and it's good, but the eye, the eye...

I prefer the original covers...and I didn't like them either..well actually the 3.0 MM cover was good...

The old tome look is a really cool idea..unfortunately they don't look like old tomes...The FRCS looks more like an old tome than these guady baubles and bubbles...

I agree that the FR covers have more of a tome-like feel than these designs. I also prefer the cover designs of MotP, D&DG et al. The core books are indeed busy. Gaudy is another word that springs to mind. Eventually to be on my shelf is a phrase that also pops up in my head.

You hit the nail on the head with those comments.

Well this is the first 3.5 version cover I've liked better than the 3e cover. The first one looked like it had cardboard wrapped in aluminum foil around the edges, tacky tacky tacky, so this version is better. Still I'm not particularly fond, and wish they'd just ditch this busy overdone look. If they have to tome like covers they should go to the FR style, or at least something lik the Psi handbook, or the epic levels handbooks where we've got some illustration. Though honestly nothing would make me happier than if they had a wonderful fully painted cover illustration.
