And so it begins. While it took longer than an hour the party, laden with gear, is assembled at the edge of the swamp. Kailee comes out to see you off with a large basket containing a picnic lunch of cold chicken, warm bread and aged cheese as well as bottles of ale and some apples. Having purchased one row boat you find your guides have a second craft of similar design, but much older. The guide prove to be an unlikely pair of lizardfolk. Tsall'Eie is a large, very large, lizardfolk woman with the last 18" or so of her tail missing, while her partner, Sine'Gile is a smaller fellow with a missing eye and a deformed hand. Kailee wishes you luck and soon the two boats are rowed out into the swamp. Tsall'Eie says little, merely grunting in greeting, but while Sine'Gile seems more talkative and seems to have a better grasp of your language. "Come noble sirs, divide yourselves between the two boats. I shall ride in this one," he pats his old boat, "and Tsall will ride in yours." It is perhaps an hour before noon by the time you set off into the swamp. While it is very hot and humid, there is slight breeze that provides some relief and the moss covered trees block the worst of the sun. Within minutes you can no longer see the walls of Saltmarsh, and soon even the smoke and stink of the city are lost to you.
